Even the Geese are Not Happy

Waking up at 6 a.m. today, I noticed the sound of many geese honking as they flew over and around our West Side house.
The geese sounded none too happy, and it is probably for the same reason I am a bit unhappy while looking at the date: Once again, it is spring only by calendar reference here in Buffalo and Western New York. The high temperature for the next several days is not expected to get out of the 30s, with lows in the 20s and one day predicted at 18 degrees.
This may be one of the reasons so many of us, geese included, are so annoyed, and some even depressed, by the end of winter; after three-plus months of cold, snow, ice and sleet, we've had enough, and while winter never seems to get to Buffalo and Western New York late (we have all heard ad nauseum about how winter doesn't "officially" get here until December 21, while we see snow pile up and temperatures drop), it does seem to leave here late.
And as much as I like boots, I'd like to wear some actual shoes to work soon.

Yep, the poor geese are very confused, one day they're flying in one direction because it feels like spring, then the next day, they're flying back because there's snow.

We saw two large herds of deer driving back from Buffalo, one around Batavia the other in Rochester, pretty strange, unless no one eats deer for Easter?

Ha; I don't know of anyone who makes a point of eating deer/venison for dinner, and maybe by Easter Sunday or Saturday, the deer feel safe that people have made their meal choices.

We saw another deer, but just one, grazing at that farm on Transit Road in Depew just north of the former Tops Market and across the street from Hillview Elementary School, but not the 10 or so we saw going to Mom's house.

Did you see any there, Heather?

I was driving and listening to mom, so I really had to concentrate on the driving part, so no, I didn't see any of them. Mike's family had to avoid a skunk in the middle of the road on the way to our house in the "country". Those NYC and Rochester cityfolk couldn't get over the farms on the way out. Anyhow, we were debating whether or not skunks hibernate. Fascinating dinner conversation.
