Hire an Actor ... Please

While this practice has gone on for years, it seems to have become an epidemic in Western New York: too many automobile dealerships are producing advertisements with their owners, managers and employees being the "talent" in them. Being this cheap doesn't seem to work.
It wouldn't be so bad of any of these people could communicate in a successful but human manner like people have for thousands of years, nor would it be so bad if they had even a tiny amount of acting or writing talent and had a clue that what they think is funny or clever is insulting and juvenile. More important, they will never get me to buy a vehicle from them.
One group of commercials that I have hated for years, and I have read that other people agree, are the Mike Ognibene Ford monstrosities. First and foremost, the "We'll see you right here" slogan has to be the most stupid, offensive and unappealing car commercial I have witnessed in these parts. Ognibene also comes across as an unconvincing, well, used car salesman, and for the love of everything that does not suck, can someone teach him that flailing his crane-like arms when he talks, causing them to go off of camera on every advertisement of his I have seen, is a waste of time, gesture and body parts?

Kevin, my personal pet peeve is Sean Kipp from Downing Automotive.

He has just about everything going against him. He's gawky, awkward and way too skinny. And smarmy on top of that!

They aren't an auto dealer- but add the Airport Jewelers TV ads to the mix...

Mark, is Sean Kipp the sales manager guy who looks incredibly uncomfortable, wears an ill-fitting suit and moves like a cheesy sales guy? If so, I was thinking of him, too, but didn't know his name; can he stop slouching for a moment or so?

It's funny, Beth; I can both see the sheer minimalist genius of the Airport Jewelers ads while being insulted and aggravated by their one-joke tone being overdone to the point of screaming.

An order of seizure of assets was signed Friday by Acting State Supreme Court Judge Robert C. Noonan in a dispute between the Ford Credit Co. and Mike Ognibene Ford.
Ford Credit claims that Mike Ognibene Ford on East Main Street Road owes more than $2 million for vehicles sold and seeks another $8 million in inventory.

Noonan, who is the Genesee County Judge, said a temporary order barring Ognibene from selling cars was issued earlier.

Ognibene, a resident of Elba, said he is preparing a counterclaim against Ford Credit, citing “false claims” and “manipulative business practices.”

Ognibene had announced earlier in the week that he was in the process of selling the business, which he purchased in 2001. The sale would have to be approved by the Ford Motor Co., a separate entity from the credit company.

Whether the ongoing court action will affect the effort to sell the dealership is not clear.
