The Republic Still Stands

Well, it's been a little more than a week, and despite the obvious threat to our government and way of life, the United States of America still exists and operates in a democratic republic manner despite the Barack and Michelle Obama cover of The New Yorker.
It took all of us, humor appreciators and humor deficient, satirists and literalists, left, right, center and wackos, and those of us who subscribe to The New Yorker and those who couldn't find it on a newsstand to work together to get us through this national crisis.
Good job, America.
